Understanding Memory Loss and Dementia
What are the differences between Alzheimer's, other dementias, and normal memory loss due to aging? Learn about the Alzheimer's disease process, the programs offered by the Colorado Chapter and the community resources available. This program is appropriate for family members, friends, long distance caregivers and community member.

Alzheimer’s and Cultural Considerations
This program provides evidence-based research that one's broader cultural norms, values, and cultural frame, give meaning to and provide definitions of illnesses stemming from diseases such as Alzheimer's. For example, African Americans may assign meanings of "falling out," or "high blood" to behaviors symptomatic of dementia. Such cultural meanings among caregivers help create barriers to seeking assistance outside the family system

Memory Loss and Heart Disease: Is there a link?
Do you suffer from cardiovascular ailments such as high blood pressure or high cholesterol? Then this program is for you. Research has found that the progression of certain structural changes in the brain was more pronounced among individuals with cardiovascular risk factors. Therefore, "the same measures for preventing heart attack and stroke – exercise, healthy diet, medications for conditions such as high blood pressure – might also guard against "more subtle changes" in mental function.
