What is AWARE?
AWARE, Alzheimer's Women's Auxiliary for Research and Education, is a volunteer group of dedicated women whose mission is to support promising research for the prevention of Alzheimer's disease and to increase awareness of the disease. Founded in 1997 by Helen J. Ginsburg, in memory of her mother, AWARE strives to educate members in all aspects of the disease; stays up to date on the latest research advances; informs members of public policy which affects those with Alzheimer's disease and their families and to provide a support system for one another.
Our annual signature gala Memories Lost and Found is planned this year for an evening event on Saturday, November 10 to honor AWARE Founder Helen Ginsburg. This annula event along with additional efforts such as the joint project with the Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter – The Alzheimer's Memory Grove and Gardens, AWARE has raised more than one million dollars toward research to develop better treatments and eventually a cure.
AWARE's success in raising money for research and increasing understanding of the disease, has been recognized by invitation to join the prestigious Zenith Fellows. The Zenith Fellows fund Alzheimer's research and consists of individuals and organizations who commit to providing $1 million in funds over 10 years.
