Alzheimer's Association to Hold Memory Walk® Informational Session
Cedar Rapids, July 25, 2008 –Individuals with questions about forming an Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk® team, or those interested in becoming part of a national movement to end Alzheimer’s, are encouraged to stop by Coffeesmiths, 7037 C Ave. NE, on Thursday, July 31st between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Memory Walk® is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, education, support, and advocacy. Teams are at the heart of what makes Memory Walk® so successful. Corporations, families, organizations, and school groups build teams to honor those who have been touched by Alzheimer’s. According to the Alzheimer’s Association 2008 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures, in Iowa alone there are currently 65,000 individuals living with Alzheimer’s and that number is expected to grow to as many as 69,000 by 2010.
Alzheimer’s Association representatives will be on hand at Coffeesmiths to answer any questions people have about Memory Walk® or Alzheimer’s disease. Individuals will also be able to register their teams online for the Greater Cedar Rapids Regional Memory Walk®, which will take place on Saturday, September 20th at Harding Middle School/Noelridge Park. Pre-registration to the informational session is preferred. All attendees will receive a team captain packet and a special gift for attending.
