KOMU 8 and Greater Missouri Present: The Roast of Mark Fenner

The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter and KOMU 8 announce Mark Fenner has agreed to take the hot seat at our annual “fun”draising event. Join MC Bob Pugh and all the Roasters on Thursday, May 25, at the Holiday Inn Executive Center.  The doors open at 5:30 pm, with dinner at 6:30 pm, followed by a special presentation, donation opportunity, and Roast. Tickets are $100 each (open seating), or reserved tables are available for $1,000 (includes 8 tickets). We also offer Silver and Bronze sponsor packages. Walk to End Alzheimer's

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Together, we can end Alzheimer’s disease, the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. The Greater Missouri Chapter hosted 10 Walks in 20156 These Walks raised over $458,000 for our community! Fundraising has started for the 20167Walk to End Alzheimer's season, with teams and sponsors joining daily. The Longest Day

The Longest Day is a team event to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association®. Held annually on the summer solstice, the duration of this sunrise-to-sunset event symbolizes the challenging journey of those living with the disease and their caregivers. Teams are encouraged to create their own experience as they fundraise and participate in an activity they love to honor someone facing the disease.

31 teams participated in Greater Missouri 2016 working towards our goal of $30,000 raised. Click Here to help support the efforts.

Ride to Remember 2017

SAVE THE DATE! On July 8th, we are holding our second annual cycling event to benefit the Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri Chapter.

We will start/end the ride at the Drunken Monkey Bar and Grill. 1816 W. Division St, Springfield, MO 65802.

The two routes are 29 and 49 miles. The 49 is only 1342' of climb with a max grade of 3.2% (super easy in the Ozarks).
The 29 has only 822' of climb.

49 mile ride starts at 7:30am
29 mile ride starts at 9am.

Non-riders can join us for food, a beverage and entertainment for only $10.

RivALZ Greater Missouri

RivALZ is a fun new Alzheimer's Association branded event where two teams of women — divided to reflect rivalries such as East vs. West or Blondes vs. Brunettes — compete in a flag football game to inspire fundraising, awareness and action in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Join us for our second RivALZ season! We will have our second game hosted in Springfield at date to be determined! Details regarding our Springfield RivALZ event will be coming soon!

Springfield's game was held on June 11, 2016 at Drury University's Harrison Stadium. 22 women helped raise over $3,000 with a goal of doubling that amount by June 30th. Learn more about that game and donate HERE

9th Annual Forget Me Not Ball

Show Your Character

Our second annual 'Show Your Character' event was held Saturday, October 1st. With over 230 people in attendance, we far exceeded the turn out from last year. Children and families alike enjoyed a photo booth, face painting, snacks, and an amazing performance by the Y.E.S. Troupe! The fun didn't stop there, as the day ended with a dance party and donuts from Hurts Donuts!   All proceeds went to the Alzheimer's Association and Springfield Little Theater's education department. See you in your costume on the red carpet next year!

Ride to Remember


On July 9th, we hosted our first ever benefit bike ride! Hosted by The Drunken Monkey, Ride to Remember had 90 registered participants and raised almost $3,000! Riders enjoyed either the 29 or 49 mile bike rides, a 'cool' tech fabric t-shirt and access to the After Party featuring The Mason Dixon Band, food, beverages, and fun! We are encouraging all riders to participate in the Walk to Remember and to keep their eyes open for more updates on next years bike ride!

The Roast of Bob Pugh - Presented by KOMU8

Bob Gerding, our empathetic emcee and last year's roastee, will attempt to keep these Roasters on task: Dave Knight, Norm Stewart, Dr. Donald Patterson, Jeff Smith and Doug Pugh. The doors open at 5:30 pm, with dinner at 6:30 pm, followed by a special video presentation, donation opportunity, and Roast. Tickets are $100 each (open seating), or reserved tables are available for $1,000 (includes 8 tickets). We also offer Silver and Bronze sponsor packages.

Tigers on the Prowl

The Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri Chapter is honored to have been selected as a participating charity for the 2015 Tigers on the Prowl in Columbia. Hosted by Ken & Melissa Anderson, Tigers on the Prowl involved multiple local organizations seeking support for their Tiger. The organization with the most "votes" wins additional support. Special Thanks to Provision Living for sponsoring the Alzheimer's Association Tiger. We look forward to sharing fundraising totals as soon as they are known.

The Roast of Bob Gerding Presented By KOMU 8

KOMU partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter to present the 11th Annual Roast. This annual fundraising event took place on Thursday, May 28, 2015 in Columbia, Missouri and raised over $63,000 this year. For more information check out our chapter news page! Local accountant Bob Gerding agreed to take the hot seat and was the perfect target given his local, stellar reputation and his circle of influence in business, civic activities and the community-at-large.



Panera Bread Night in Springfield - July 24th

The Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri Chapter and Panera Bread partnered to raise over $1,000 through an awareness night featuring live music, a bucket raffle, a parking lot party and more. Joined by the Y.E.S. Troupe from the Springfield Little Theater and Captain America and Batman, the evening was fun and successful. Both Panera and the Alzheimer's Association look forward to making this an annual event.


Strike out Alzheimer's with the Springfield Cardinals - August 21st

Reason to Hope

Reason to Hope is a one-hour breakfast event designed to educate the community about the Alzheimer’s Association while also raising funds to support Alzheimer's research, programs and services. Though there is no cost to attend the event, table hosts and their guests will be asked to support the Alzheimer's community by making a gift to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri Chapter.   The goal of this event is to create awareness about the programs and services available for families in our community and to raise funds for the critical work we do locally and around the world.   Join us, and let us show you why there’s Reason to Hope.

The Forget Me Not Ball - Saturday, May 7, 2016

Join La Raco Dance Studio on May 7th, 2016 at Tan-Tar-A Resort, for another unbelievably amazing event. Their annual Forget Me Not Ball Showcase features a Professional Missouri couple who quickly climbed the Rising Star Professional Latin circuit, Senzo Makaye and Aga Strojek.  Mike Clayton from Mix 92.7 will keep the night going as emcee.  Roses will be available for chances to win fantastic giveaways from local businesses and restaurants.  Last, but certainly not least, Professional Instructors from Missouri and dancers from the Lake Area will grace the floor with their dance of choice. End the night with dancing to your favorite music. Tickets are $80 per person for General Seating to the Saturday night event.
