Are you too busy to attend an educational program? Audio conference is designed for those who aren’t able to attend a program outside the home or office.

All programs were developed with the front-line worker in mind and are designed to provide a basic overview of person-centered dementia care, practical tips for communicating and managing behaviors, creating and maintaining a safe environment and supporting the person with dementia and their family in the advanced stages of the disease. Each call-in site will receive a certificate of participation and a post-test that can be administered to staff to validate competency.

Once registered, you will receive a toll free telephone number with call-in instructions along with a copy of the presentation and handouts for distribution to those in attendance. On the day of the conference, you will join others who are seeking the latest information on caring for someone with dementia.

Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias are large and growing public health problems and pose enormous challenges for family and professional caregivers. This session will provide an overview of symptoms and stages, means of diagnosis, medical treatments and non-pharmacologic approaches to care. Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia, will be differentiated from other types. How dementias typically unfold over time and the resulting challenges for affected individuals and their caregivers will be described. Ways in which we can help people with dementia and their caregivers cope with these challenges will be explained. Time will be allowed for questions and comments.
