What is Team CARE
Team CARE (Conquering Alzheimer’s Running Endeavor) is the Alzheimer’s Association running team for the annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Rock ‘N’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon, Illinois Marathon, Race to Reverse 5k, and Accenture Triathlon. Team CARE will be returning as an eighth year Partner Charity for the 2009 Bank of America Chicago Marathon as well as Bronze level sponsor of the Rock ‘N’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon.
Team CARE members are never just one of the crowd with the Alzheimer’s Association!
- Team CARE members train for months to tackle the pavement associated with all races, and have the help of other Team CARE members along the way.
-
They also raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer's Association research program and for Association programs and services. In 2008 more than 150 Team CARE members raised over $200,000 for the Alzheimer's Association. Team CARE has raised more than $861,000 since their first Marathon in 2002.
“Being a part of Team CARE is all about people, our connection to Alzheimer’s disease, and what we can do singly and together.”
Bryan Selander, Team CARE founding member
“Team CARE is essential to the Alzheimer's Association because it gives individuals who have been touched by the disease the ability to combine two passions; running and making a difference. With the inspiration of their loved ones, Team CARE members are driven to cross that finish line while working towards a cure for the disease.”
Kim Oakley, Manager of Team CARE.
