DVD - Accepting the Challenge, Providing the Best Care for People with Dementia
A 4-part in-service training for professional caregivers in DVD format.
The DVD provides direct caregivers with a better understanding of AD. Residents of an assisted living facility are used to provide viewer with examples they can relate to. DVD also provides tips for caregivers that will assist them in providing the best care for people with dementia.
Module 1 - (35 minutes) What is Dementia? Symptoms of AD
Module 2 - (45 minutes) Physical Approach, Communication Skills
Module 3 - (50 minutes) Offering Assistance, Evaluating Cognitive Levels
Module 4 - (35 minutes) Meaningful Days (activities), Problem Behavior
Lending Library
Our "Lending Library" consists of FREE books, videos and/or brochures to display in residential locations for caregivers and/or individuals with Alzheimer's disease. All materials can be ordered by calling the chapter
Continuing Education Units
CEU's are applied to a variety of lectures within the community in collaboration with educational institutions and/or fields of study
Internships
Internships are available through the Association in a variety of fields. Some areas are in partnership with healthcare institutions on Long Island.
Health Fairs
A representative from the chapter attends Health Fairs in the community to provide resources to professionals and/or caregivers. To participate in your event call the Chapter.
