Take action on World Alzheimer's Day
On Thursday, Sept. 21, World Alzheimer's Day, thousands of Alzheimer advocates flooded the White House comment line urging President Bush to increase funding for Alzheimer research and to continue funding for care programs in the 2008 federal budget.
Our sincere appreciation to everyone who patiently sat on hold and placed several calls back when faced with busy signals.

Background
Last year, President Bush proposed to eliminate funding for all Alzheimer programs and cut back the investment in research in the 2007 federal budget. We are working hard to prevent this from happening again in 2008.
On World Alzheimer’s Day, advocates told President Bush to:
-
address Alzheimer's disease in the 2008 federal budget
-
increase funding for Alzheimer research at the National Institutes of Health
-
continue funding Alzheimer care programs, including: Safe Return®, the Alzheimer's Association 24/7 Helpline, The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Brain Health Initiative and the Alzheimer State Matching Grants
Alzheimer research and support programs at risk for cuts
Congress has not yet completed its work on the 2007 federal budget.
