In an effort to help accelerate critically needed Alzheimer's research and raise awareness, philanthropist Mikey Hoag partnered with the Alzheimer's Association to create an annual Part the Cloud event.

2023 Part the Cloud Luncheon

The Part the Cloud Luncheon was held on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park, CA and raised nearly $1 million to support Alzheimer's research. Read more about the event.

The inspirational and educational afternoon featured remarks from Richard Lui, award-winning journalist and news anchor for MSNBC and NBC, and the producer and director of "UNCONDITIONAL" and a research panel including:

Maria C. Carrillo, Ph.D., chief science officer, Alzheimer’s Association.
Suzanne Craft, Ph.D., Professor, Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
Stacie Weninger, Ph.D., president of F-Prime Biomedical Research Initiative.
Heather M. Snyder, Ph.D., vice president, Medical and Scientific Relations, Alzheimer’s Association.

100% of funds raised through Part the Cloud support the Alzheimer's Association's International Research Program and fund novel research ideas to determine if they will be effective treatments for the millions of people affected by brain disease.

2021 Part the Cloud Gala

The Part the Cloud Gala was held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at a private residence in Woodside, CA and raised over $33 million to support Part the Cloud’s mission to accelerate research for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias at a faster pace!

Bob Fitzgerald assisted with the Fund a Need, which raised over $2 million in the room alone. In addition to the funds that were raised, we were especially grateful to have CNBC's "TechCheck" co-anchor Deirdre Bosa as the evening’s host and for Kim Steppe and Leah Robbie joining us to share their journey. The evening ended on a high note with a performance by the incredible Andy Grammer.

2018 Part the Cloud Gala

Thank you to all who supported the 2018 Part the Cloud Gala! It was a magical evening, and together we raised a record-breaking $11 million for Alzheimer's research. Our team can't say thank you enough for the generosity of our community. With these additional funds, we envision being able to fund 33 research grants! We are so grateful.

Part the Cloud was an evening to be remembered thanks to the vision and inspiration of our incredible leadership team, founder Mikey Hoag and chairs Debbie Robbins and Ellen Drew. The gala was held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, CA. Sage Steele of ESPN's SportsCenter was articulate and funny as the emcee of this remarkable evening which featured dazzling performances by country artist Jay Allen and Tony award-winning actress, singer and songwriter Idina Menzel.

The party continued into the evening as guests danced the night away at the after party hosted by the Dave Martin's House Party band. Stanlee Gatti donated the event services and delighted guests with his bright and vibrant decor. Many thanks to our guests who flew in from far and wide, including Garth Brooks, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Kim Campbell. February 2017 Part the Cloud Luncheon

The 2017 Part the Cloud Luncheon was held on Wednesday, February 1 at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club and raised over $800,000 to fund Alzheimer's research.

The event honored Peabody and Emmy-winning journalist and Alzheimer's activist Maria Shriver, and featured remarks from Roberta Brinton, Ph.D., Director of the University of Arizona Center for Innovation in Brain Science and Maria Carrillo, Ph.D., Chief Science Officer at the Alzheimer's Association.

April 2016 Part the Cloud Gala

Under the leadership of Mikey Hoag, her husband, Jay, and an outstanding steering committee, Part the Cloud far surpassed its own record for largest one-day Alzheimer's Association fundraiser, bringing in more than $10.8 million to fuel Alzheimer's research, including the Part the Challenge on Neuroinflammation. The evening featured performances by Jimmy Buffett and Ashley Campbell, who honored her father, country music legend Glen Campbell. Actors and Alzheimer's Association Champions Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen led a spirited live auction, raising over $1 million.

January 2015 Part the Cloud Luncheon

Mikey Hoag, Dr. Lisa Genova and Anne Lawler Hoag started the luncheon by announcing that $6 million raised through previous Part the Cloud events was now active in the field, funding progressive Alzheimer's research grants. Dr. Lisa Genova, best-selling author of “Still Alice,” a novel adapted into an Academy Award-winning film starring Julianne Moore, gave guests an inside look at the process she underwent to write her book from the perspective of a character living with dementia. In addition, Alzheimer's Association Chief Science Officer Dr. Maria Carrillo provided a research update, detailing how funds from Part the Cloud bridge a significant gap in drug development.

May 2014 Part the Cloud Gala

Actresses Brooke Shields and Virginia Madsen hosted the invitation-only gala, which raised $4 million and set a record for the largest single-day fundraiser in Alzheimer's Association history. Hoag rallied the crowd, calling on attendees to continue their action for the cause throughout the year: “Think back to the AIDS crisis. An entire community spoke up — they acted up — and Congress began to spend money. The prospect of a cure became real. We can do that, too.”
