Through April 30, the Alzheimer’s Association is accepting nominations for two "Best Paper" awards in Neuroimaging. Both awards carry unrestricted prizes and will be presented during ICAD 2008 in July in Chicago.
Prizes
- Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Award
An unrestricted prize of $5,000 in recognition of the "best paper" published in any peer-reviewed journal between Aug. 1, 2006 and June 30, 2008.
- New Investigator Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Award
An unrestricted prize of $1,000 awarded to the "best paper" most recently published by a promising new investigator between Aug. 1, 2006 and June 30, 2008.
Selection criteria
- The topic of the papers must relate to in-vivo neuroimaging of a neurodegenerative process.
- The nomination for the $5,000 award must be for papers published or in-press galley proof in the period between Aug. 1, 2006 and June 30, 2008.
- The nomination for the $1,000 award will be for a recently published paper or in-press galley proof by an investigator new to the Alzheimer's disease field. This will be determined based on an accompanying one-page letter by the candidate and a CV listing all publications and all grant support. In general, junior faculty with limited support for Alzheimer's disease research and limited publications in the AD field will be considered.
- Selection of the awardees will be made by the Awards Jury convened by the Alzheimer's Association.
How to apply
Send all nomination information to neuroimaging@alz.org. All materials must be received by April 30, 2008.
- The Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Award — Submit paper only along with candidate’s name and contact information.
- The New Investigator’s Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Award — Submit paper, letter and curriculum vita.
Only full manuscripts or those in final galley format from peer reviewed journals will be accepted for consideration. Nominees may be asked to supply additional information to the committee.
Award jury
The Award Jury consists of active senior investigators from the fields of neuroimaging and Alzheimer’s research. The panel includes experts in specific imaging modalities as well as experts in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology. This year’s jury is chaired by Mony de Leon and co-chaired by Zaven Khachaturian. The identity of the panel of judges will remain anonymous until the winners are selected.
Administration of the neuroimaging awards
The award presentations and the disposition of all future funds donated for these prizes are administered by the Alzheimer's Association. An Award Founders Group, an executive committee and the original group of donors, has been formed to assist the Association in ensuring the perpetuity of the award. The current Founders Group is comprised of:
