About Memory Walk

The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk®, nationally sponsored by Genworth Financial, is our national signature fundraising event which brings together family, friends, caregivers and concerned community members — who all want to make a difference. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $260 million to help those battling Alzheimer's disease.  Memory Walk is a great opportunity for people of all ages to take part in the movement to end Alzheimer's disease.

Memory Walk at a glance

Memory Walk 2009 is in full swing! Register early and start your fundraising today. Help us reach our goal of raising over $600,000 to support the mission of the Alzheimer's Association.

Memory Walk is a great day full of activities for the whole family.  Activities very by location, but will likely include:

  • Scenic 1-2 mile walk route
  • Times of remembrance
  • Music and family entertainment
  • Kids play areas
  • Food and beverage
  • Information on Alzheimer's Association programs and services
  • Information about Corporate Sponsors' products and services
  • Opportunity to advocate to Congress for research funding

Start a team

Forming a team for the Memory Walk can enhance your experience and multiply your impact. Together, as a team, you are a force much greater than what you can accomplish alone.  While we encourage you to recruit as many people as possible to join your team, there is no minimum number of people for a team.  So gather at least one friend to begin.

To register your team online, choose the "Register Here" button on the walk location site.  When asked, choose "Start a Team."   Each team member can then choose to "Join an Existing Team" when they register.  It's that simple.

Together, as a team, you are a force much greater than what you can accomplish alone. To get you started on developing your team, download our Team Captain Guide.

Set a Goal

Remember, the money you raise for Memory Walk helps to fund a cure for Alzheimer's and to fund services for South Carolina families who have a loved one with the disease.  So set your goal high!

In order to receive a Memory Walk t-shirt at the event, you will need to raise a minimum of $100.  We encourage each walker to try to raise at least $140.  Incentive prizes are also available to participants according to their totals.  The fundraising deadline is November 20, 2009.
