Sunday, September 21 marks World Alzheimer’s Day, a time that the Alzheimer’s Association urges people across the nation to take the time to learn more about Alzheimer’s and get involved in the issue.

The latest worldwide estimate of Alzheimer’s disease prevalence indicates that more than 26 million people around the world were living with the disease in 2006. Experts predict that this number will quadruple by 2050 to more than 100 million, at which time 1 in 85 persons worldwide will be living with the disease.

We'll be observing World Alzheimer's Day in Spencer at the Iowa Lakes Memory Walk, starting at 1:00 pm.  If you're in the area, we invite you to join us in raising funds and awareness.  For more about what you can do to observe World Alzheimer's Day 2008, visit actionalz.org.

Retailers for the Cause

In November we remembered those touched by Alzheimer’s; we celebrate their lives and memories and we focus on increasing public awareness about the disease.  Thanks to those area businesses that helped us commemorate National Alzheimer's Disease Month through employee fundraising and awareness events, memorabilia sales or donations.

Employees of Design Masters come together to mark National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month with a bake sale at the Spencer salon that raised over $250 for the Alzheimer’s Association.  Thank you for your support!
