At every moment of every day, researchers around the world are working to end Alzheimer's.

The Alzheimer’s Association is a global force connecting scientists in an effort to change the trajectory of the disease. We’re fueling diverse research at every stage by identifying bold ideas, raising funds and investing in groundbreaking, high-impact projects through innovative grant programs like Part the Cloud. We’re propelling studies like U.S. POINTER, which is part of World Wide FINGERS, an international network that’s dedicated to investigating how lifestyle changes may reduce the risk of dementia. And our research doesn’t stop in the laboratory — we’re also investing in studies to learn how to best support caregivers and improve quality of life for people living with the disease.

We’re relentless in the pursuit of our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia®. Join us.

$360+ MILLION is invested in Alzheimer’s and dementia research by the Association.

1,000+ RESEARCH PROJECTS
spanning six continents are actively funded by the Association.

OVER $3.7 BILLION is invested in Alzheimer's research annually by the federal government, as a result of Association advocacy.

Bengaluru, India

Leading experts convened at the AAIC® Satellite Symposium to share the latest dementia science with researchers in India and across Asia, while showcasing the important research being conducted locally.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires assembled a diverse network of dementia experts and policymakers at a global symposium and launched the first South American center for data sharing among international brain imaging researchers.

Chicago, U.S.

Chicago is home to 30+ funded studies, multiple dementia science conferences and an international brain study to track the long-term impact of COVID-19 on the brain.

Gaborone, Botswana

Research is happening in Botswana, with efforts focused on improving the diagnosis of dementia and developing support mechanisms for those with traumatic brain injury and their caregivers.

Houston, U.S.

Houston’s 30+ funded studies and clinical trials span the field of dementia science, including the U.S. POINTER lifestyle intervention study and a potential treatment that reduces brain inflammation.

London, U.K.

The Association’s funding of groundbreaking clinical trials, research studies and the world’s largest dementia science conference lays the foundation for significant advances in Alzheimer’s treatment and prevention.

Melbourne, Australia

Scientists are tackling Alzheimer’s from all angles — from trials investigating potential treatments, to longitudinal studies on preventative lifestyle interventions and everything in between.

Osaka, Japan

Osaka is home to an Association-funded study to determine the causes of neurodegeneration in Alzheimer’s disease. It is also the Japanese hub for sharing neuroimaging data with the international research community.

Santiago, Chile

The Alzheimer’s Association is funding studies to improve the diagnosis of dementia through local initiatives, identify new targets for Alzheimer’s therapies and more.

St. Louis, U.S.

In addition to funding more than 30 studies and clinical trials in St. Louis, the Alzheimer’s Association is helping drive international research efforts to treat or prevent rare, early onset, genetic causes of Alzheimer’s and, potentially, all forms of Alzheimer’s.

Tel Aviv, Israel

Several studies examining biomarkers and cell biology — and a clinical trial investigating the safety of a drug for people living with Alzheimer's — could lead to new treatments and strategies for prevention.

Toronto, Canada

Toronto hosted the world’s largest and most influential dementia science conference in 2016 and continues to drive the field of dementia science forward with multiple research studies and novel clinical trials.

Washington, D.C., U.S.

The Alzheimer’s Association's advocacy efforts have secured a sevenfold increase in federal dementia research funding in the U.S. since 2011. The Association is also propelling research by funding several promising studies, clinical trials and global dementia science conferences in the nation’s capital.

The Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research

and the nonprofit with the highest impact worldwide, behind only the Chinese and U.S. governments.*
