Marketing Associate

General Summary

The Marketing Associate is responsible for providing graphic design services to the region and marketing support to the marketing and communications team for the Oregon and SW Washington chapter. Marketing support may include website copy and updating, social media graphics and posts, copywriting, and press releases.  This position works in close collaboration with the leadership team (executive director, development director, public policy director and program director).  

This is a full-time position, located in Portland, Oregon, and reports to the Marketing and Communication Manager. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Update and maintain chapter website
  • Assist in preparing marketing collateral for all chapter events
  • In collaboration with the leadership team, develop creative themes and designs for marketing materials in support of chapter's strategic plan goals for donor development and public awareness
  • Assist in writing and editing marketing materials, which include media advertising, website content, presentations, and photo editing
  • Monitor project timelines and adhere to deadlines
  • Under guidance of the leadership team, prepare special event collateral materials, including flyers, posters, T-shirt, banners, advertisements, postcards, signage and other material
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications manager on design and layout of e-mail campaigns, testing their deliverability and overseeing their execution
  • Contribute compelling content for our blog, e-news, and social media
  • Update and maintain media lists; conduct media research as needed
  • Assist with media monitoring and reporting
  • Monitor social media in order to curate content, increase engagement, and gain new followers
  • Participate in and provide social media support for Chapter events, including the Walk to End Alzheimer's, McGinty Conference, Advocacy Day and other events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High level of knowledge and proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, primarily InDesign and Photoshop
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; knowledge of Associated Press (AP) writing style a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understanding email distribution tools and CRM platforms such as Convio
  • Deadline and detail-oriented with strong organizational skill
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn new software/technology
  • Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and an inter-disciplinary team, and to take accept constructive criticism and direction from multiple sources
