Take Action!

Become an Advocate

Conquering Alzheimer’s is as much a matter of public policy as scientific discovery, and we need your help to change the future of this devastating disease. Whatever your experience and availability is, odds are there’s a place for you on our advocate team.
There are a variety of ways to advocate, some of which take just a couple of minutes!

  • Meet with elected officials - lend your voice in district offices at the Columbus Statehouse and at the Advocacy Forum in D.C.
  • Raise awareness through local media – partner with Chapter staff to draft letters-to-the-editor and pitch stories
  • Support the Alzheimer’s Impact Movement (AIM) – promote AIM, the advocacy arm of the Association, and engage with campaign staff, donors and events
  • Call on your connections – use your relationships with legislators and partner organizations to make calls at key moments
  • Spark social media conversations – engage online, inspire and recruit new advocates, and monitor legislator accounts to comment/retweet
  • Coordinate events and volunteers – help lead advocates recruit and mobilize volunteers and organize advocacy events
  • Share your unique perspective – whether you are a person living with Alzheimer’s, a care partner, or have lost someone to the disease, your story is important

Why Become an Advocate?

We can’t win this fight alone. You have stories, relationships and skills that will lend momentum to our shared vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.

Advocates help the Association develop one-on-one relationships with legislators and their offices. We’ve passed critical legislation and nearly tripled federal funding for Alzheimer’s research in just a few years thanks to our amazing advocates.
