During Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month in June, the Alzheimer's Association invites NARFE members to join with others around the world in sharing your Alzheimer's story on social media using the hashtags #MyAlzStory and #ENDALZ. Next month, we'll report the latest research findings from the global dementia science community presented at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference® 2017 (AAIC®) in London, and as always, we are grateful to NARFE members for all the ways you support the cause.

Drug combinations may be effective in treating Alzheimer's disease
With the success of combination therapy in HIV, cancer and heart disease, the time for this approach to treat Alzheimer's may be near. James A. Hendrix, Ph.D., Alzheimer's Association director of Global Science Initiatives, writes that a consensus is emerging that the most effective Alzheimer's treatments may be those which attack the disease on multiple fronts. Bipartisan legislation to provide necessary support services to Alzheimer's family caregivers
The Alzheimer's Association and the Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) support the bipartisan Recognize, Assist, Include, Support, and Engage (RAISE) Family Caregivers Act (S. 1028) which has been introduced in U.S. Senate. The RAISE Family Caregivers Act would provide much needed support to caregivers. The legislation would facilitate the creation of a national strategy to address the many issues facing caregivers today, including education and training, long-term services and supports, and financial stability and security. IDEAS Study spurs related research to impact dementia
The milestone Imaging Dementia – Evidence for Amyloid Scanning (IDEAS) Study is working with government and academic researchers to launch three add-on studies to expand the impact of the core study where more than 18,000 people with cognitive decline but an unclear diagnosis will receive an amyloid PET scan. New Alzheimer's Association survey reveals dramatic impact of Alzheimer's disease on families
New findings from an Alzheimer's Association survey, released in conjunction with the beginning of Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, show that while people overwhelmingly agree it often takes a village to provide care for someone living with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia (91 percent), far too many caregivers are doing it alone.
