The Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley Chapter is looking for volunteers throughout Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties. The Alzheimer's Association relies on dedicated volunteers to achieve our vision of a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. We seek committed, passionate volunteers to help us with the following opportunities:

Advocacy: Advocacy volunteers share their stories to raise awareness, educate and persuade policymakers and stakeholders to affect change in laws and funding in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

Caregiver Support Group Facilitators: Support Group Facilitators create a safe, open environment where people can share their feelings, thoughts and experiences in a combined effort to better cope with and manage the shared problems of dementia.

Community Educators: Community Educators are volunteer public speakers who help the Alzheimer’s Association raise awareness, provide education and expand the reach of educational offerings in the community. These volunteers deliver presentations using prepared training materials on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Community Representatives: Community Representatives raise awareness of Alzheimer’s Association programs, provide basic disease information and link consumers to Alzheimer’s Association services by serving as liaisons between the Alzheimer’s Association and local groups such as neighborhoods, rural counties, business and civic organizations or faith communities.

Faith Outreach Representatives: Faith Outreach Representatives serve as liaisons between the Alzheimer’s Association and local faith groups and congregations by sharing information about Alzheimer’s disease, free resources offered through the Alzheimer’s Association and the many ways to join our cause at local community and education events.

Office Support: Move our mission forward by supporting a variety of office activities, such as mailings, phone banks and communication efforts.

Program Tech Support: Program Tech Support volunteers serve as hosts/moderators for web-based programs taught by staff or trained volunteers, troubleshooting any technical issues, monitoring chats, muting microphones, etc. These volunteers also help set up the audio/visual equipment for in-person programming, advancing slides for the presenter and troubleshooting any issues that arise.

The Longest Day®: You can assist with these third-party fundraising and awareness events centered around the summer solstice to honor those facing dementia and the long days their caregivers spend caring for them. Events happen year-round and require planning and support; there are a number of committee positions available.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s®: Be a part of the world’s largest event to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. We have a variety of roles available, including a year-round planning committee, team recruitment opportunities and event-day support.

These are just some of the many opportunities that we have available. We provide training, online and self-study materials and additional support throughout your volunteer journey. We hope you will consider joining us!

If you are interested in volunteering, please email hudsonvalleyinfo@alz.org. We have a role to suit just about everyone’s interests and abilities.
