In what way(s) do you volunteer?

My volunteer work with the Association has always been in the role of facilitator for a caregiver support group.

Why do you support the Association?

In my role as a psychiatric nurse, I had many contacts with Alzheimer’s patients and their families. It did not take long for me to understand that the family is also the patient. Understanding that was a great help to me when my mother developed the disease.
What impact do you feel your work with the Alzheimer’s Association has on the community?

What impact do you feel your work with the Alzheimer’s Association has on the community?

I think we provide a respite once a month that caregivers can use to talk about their problems with caregiving and not feel threatened.

What else are you involved in within your community?

I function as the Faith Community Nurse at St. Andrews Catholic Church and I also provide education throughout the community about Alzheimer’s disease.
