Our volunteers are passionate, inspired and want to make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or make a more significant time commitment, please consider becoming an Alzheimer's Association volunteer. Training is provided. Share your expertise with us! Ways to Volunteer

Alzheimer’s Advocate 
Advocates play an essential role in the Association's legislative efforts by taking political action. Advocates are engaged in a variety of public policy activities such as emailing, calling or writing legislators, attending conferences and events, visiting legislators in home district offices, and helping to identify new advocates. Help us build relationships with decision-makers and their staff to fight Alzheimer's and increase funding for research.

Administrative Support
Assist with clerical tasks such as preparing materials, mass mailings, making follow up phone calls and other office activities.

Community Educator
In this role, you will deliever Association-developed presentations that increase understanding about Alzheimer's, caregiving, brain health and other topics. Training on the Association's core education programs is required and will be provided to you. Must be an effective communicator with good public speaking skills and be interested in educating the public. Bilingual speakers needed.

Community Representative 
You can help your community learn about the Alzheimer's Association and its free services by attending health fairs and other local events. Support is needed in settting up displays, distributing information and conversing with the public about dementia and the services we provide. Volunteers will receive training on the basics of the disease, the Alzheimer's Association and our mission. 

Community Outreach
Outreach volunteers ensure more people know about and access available resources. These roles include distrivuting materials such as catalogs or flyers in retail establishments, community centers, religious organizations, etc for local programs.

Photographer
We are seeking volunteers that have a photography background. Depending on your availability, this would include attending our chapter events and assisting our media relations manager with photograohy that will be used for marketing material. Experience is required.

Special Events
We have a wide range of event opportunities such as planning committees, thank you calls, event day support and team recruitments for Walk to End Alzheimer's and The Longest Day.

Support Group Facilitator
The role of the facilitator is to create a supportive setting where group members connect with each other and benefit from the shared wisdom and experience of living with Alzheimer's disease. Assist with guiding participation in caregiver support groups or early-stage support for people with the diagnosis and/or their caregiver. Facilitators must have strong listening skills and be effective communicators. Experience with dementia as a family member or health care professional is preferred. Ability to be empathic, create and maintain a safe environment and redirect and facilitate discussions is also required. Early-stage support group facilitators must be a masters-level mental health professional (e.g., social worker, psychologist, professional counselor) or equivalent experience.
