David Gonzales, M.D.David Gonzales, M.D. is the chief medical officer of the CHRISTUS St. Vincent Health System. Previously he served as board vice chair for Anchorum St. Vincent. He has been a member of the medical staff at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center since 1994 and is a native of Santa Fe. He is board certified in internal medicine and has vast experience in managing the clinical operations for healthcare systems statewide in New Mexico. Dr. Gonzales has spent the better part of the last 20 years as a hospitalist physician as well as a hospice and palliative care physician and is responsible for developing several hospitalist programs throughout the country and served as medical director of Santa Fe’s only nonprofit hospice for over 25 years. 
 
As former chief medical officer of the Heart Hospital of New Mexico and chief of staff of UNM/Sandoval Regional Medical Center, Dr. Gonzales’ expertise is focused on inpatient operational processes as they pertain to quality and patient satisfaction. As a member of the CHRISTUS St. Vincent board of directors, he serves as chair of the Quality and Patient Safety Committee, chair of the Credentialing and Privileging Committee, a member of the Ethics Committee, chair of the Medical Executive Committee and is president of the medical staff. 

After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University, he graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine.  

Dr. Gonzales was elected to the board of directors in 2020.
