    "In Realms of Fractured Mind"
    By Natasha Jasso Smith

In shadows deep, where memories are lost,
Dementia's grasp, its cruel and tragic cost,
The worst affliction, stealing minds away,
A silent thief, that claims its price to pay.

I look unchanged, my visage stays the same,
Yet deep within, a flicker fades, in shame,
Beneath this mask, a world unknown to all,
A lonely realm, where understanding falls.

No words can bridge the void that lies between,
No gestures, touch, can bring my soul's serene,
For in this realm, I wander all alone,
A place where empathy cannot be shown.

Oh, cruel dementia, haunting every hour,
You rob my essence, fade each vibrant flower,
And as I tread this path, you claim as mine,
I yearn for solace, understanding kind.

But in this maze, where thoughts forever stray,
I am adrift, forever lost, they say,
No one can comprehend this world I bear,
No one can enter, no one can repair.

So, here I stand, a figure of deceit,
A familiar face, with secrets held complete,
In silence, I remain, my spirit confined,

A poet lost, in realms of a fractured mind.

But though this battle rages fierce within,
I'll strive to find that light, amidst the din,
A glimmer of my essence still remains,
And seek the solace, where true love sustains.
