Social, Legal, and Financial Consequences of Frontotemporal dementia

    Jalayne Arias, JD, MA
    University of California, San Francisco
San Francisco, CA - United States

The study will identify and evaluate legal, financial and social decisions made by individuals following a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). The research team will conduct two interviews with individuals diagnosed with FTD and their families. The first interview, within 30 days of diagnosis, will collect participants’ report of anticipated decisions and barriers experienced early in the disease process. A follow-up interview, within 6-9 months post diagnosis will collect participants’ reports of decisions made and barriers to decision making. The study could provide the foundation for future projects that develop policy and clinical practice solutions to mitigate financial, legal and social consequences of FTD.
