Burdensome end of life treatments in older adults with advanced dementia

    Elizabeth Dzeng, MD, PhD
Global Brain Health Institute and King's College London
    London, United Kingdom

For older adults with Alzheimer’s and related dementia in the United States, end-of-life care may entail intensive medical treatments. Dr.Dzeng proposes to identify different practices that are common or accepted in various countries (United States, France, and United Kingdom) to bring perspectives to caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s. Dr. Dzeng’s goal here is to identify innovative mechanisms that could be introduced to improve end-of-life care globally. If successful, the study results could be shared across different countries and they could help to promote equity in Alzheimer’s prevention strategies and care models.
