Situational Analysis of Dementia in Colombia

    Alejandra Guerrero, M.D.
    Universidad de los Andes
    Bogota, Colombia

Dr. Alejandra Guerrero and colleagues will study the frequency of occurrence of dementia in Colombia, using nationally representative mortality, administrative and survey data. The researchers will examine several factors including social determinants, mortality, risk and economic costs of dementia in the Colombian population. Dr. Guerrero’s team will leverage the data to identify key stakeholders (within and beyond the government) and conduct interviews to understand dementia awareness among the Colombian population. If successful, the study results could contribute to and help in the creation of a national dementia plan in Colombia.
