Dr. Fontana works to continue expanding the suite of scientific meetings led by the Alzheimer’s Association, including AAIC Neuroscience Next, AAIC Advancements and AAIC Satellite Symposium. He has mainly focused on highlighting the work of scientists based on low- and middle-income countries and early career researchers.
Dr. Fontana earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He was awarded an international scholarship to conduct half of his Ph.D. research at the School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences, King’s College London, United Kingdom. Dr. Fontana completed a postdoctoral fellowship focused on development of imaging biomarkers for Alzheimer's disease at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. He holds a master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and a bachelor's degree in industrial chemistry from Universidade Regional Integrada, Brazil.
