Dear Friends:
In 2012, Part the Cloud was just an idea — how could we make a difference fighting Alzheimer's and start a conversation in Silicon Valley to change the course of this devastating disease? Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that Part the Cloud would turn into a global movement to advance Alzheimer's disease research.
Since its inception, Part the Cloud has raised over $82 million and funded 68 clinical trials with the highest probability of slowing, stopping or ultimately curing Alzheimer's disease. These awards are specifically designed to accelerate transition of findings from the laboratory, through trials, into possible therapies — filling the gap in Alzheimer's drug development by providing essential support for early phase clinical studies. Part the Cloud research awards are critical to allowing new and novel ideas to get off the ground and are the catalyst allowing grantees to accelerate their research through the pipeline, from bench to bedside. After initial funding from Part the Cloud, grant recipients have gone on to receive more than $1.4 billion in follow-on funding from the U.S. federal government, venture capital firms and other sources.
These grants are truly making a difference as we work to get one step closer to our vision of a world without Alzheimer's disease. Now, more than ever, I am hopeful that a breakthrough is on the horizon, and I am overwhelmed with gratitude for all of your support and awestruck by what we have accomplished together. I invite you to explore our website to learn more about the work we are doing to accelerate critically needed research and raise awareness about this terrible disease.
Together, we will Part the Cloud!
Sincerely,
Michaela "Mikey" Hoag
