Josh Spiegelhoff, Walk Committee, Lake Geneva

“No matter how small you are, you can make a difference.”

Josh has been volunteering with the Alzheimer's Association for five years as a Co-Chair for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Walworth County.  “I wanted to get involved so I went and checked out a walk meeting,” says Josh. “It’s a great group and over the year’s we’ve continued to recruit and it’s a fun group.”

Josh has a personal connection to the mission, as his father has Alzheimer’s, his grandmother passed away from it, and his aunt has early onset.

As a Walk Co-Chair Josh says, “A critical aspect of all the Walk to End Alzheimer’s events is to get the word out. I run in to so many people who are wearing a walk shirt or see me wearing a walk shirt and we start a conversation. Word of mouth is extremely important.”

“I would encourage anyone to get involved and volunteer,” says Josh. “The organization needs a lot of different skill sets and you can really do as little or as much as you like.” Josh is the president of an insurance agency in Lake Geneva. Around Walk season, it’s not uncommon for his business to become a pick up zone with walk participants stopping to pick up walk signs, flowers and other materials.

We’re a small community and have a pretty successful walk,” says Josh. “No matter how small you are, you can make a difference.”
